All About August!

Here’s What Happened

To watch back some of the good times in August, check out our recap reel!

August featured an incredible array of never-been-done social events, exhilarating footy and sports, creative workshops and nostalgia filled music events.

We were even lucky enough to witness the Broncos win a home game (finally), as well as finishing the month with the incredible Riverfire celebrations.

SUPER SOCIALS

We are delighted to see the socials ramping up each month, and they have created some awesome memories for everyone, and have helped forge some of the blossoming friendships we have created in the Let’s Go community.

This month, we focussed on FUN. We had the Hijinx Hotel challenge rooms which put everyone to the test, working together to solve puzzles in the brand-new challenge rooms at Mt. Gravatt. We split off into small teams and made our way through each of the vibrant rooms, before tackling the mini-golf course located at the same venue – talk about bang for buck!

Another favourite was the B. Lucky and Sons arcade games social, which allowed everyone to indulge in the plethora of arcade machines on offer and challenge each other to friendly competitions on our favourite games.

We decided to head back to Area 51 due to popular demand, and even saw some repeat attendees get a second dose of the good times we had at the Adult Only Playground night. We were able to get silly for 2-hours in an all-inclusive playground, featuring trampolines, foam pits, huge slides, rock climbing challenges, basketball courts, obstacle courses and many more attractions. When we were tuckered out, we journeyed next door to the Alien Night Market which featured some incredible food options which left our stomachs full and taste buds satisfied.

While having variety is often welcomed at these social events, we also catered to those that preferred to focus on the one activity for the duration of the event, such as our Lawn Bowls or Top Golf socials. These laid-back events gave everyone the chance to spend a bit of time focussing on their techniques and work towards perfecting the perfect shot.

High Energy Socials

We had some pretty awesome large-scale high energy social events, such as our Movie World Day, EKKA trip, and Riverfire experience. Our adrenaline seeking crowd adored the Movie World Day, and made the most of the fast passes by going on each ride quite a few times. Pair that with the delicious food available, and superhero themed souvenirs to take home, this day was a massive vibe that we will carry with us for the rest of the year.

The EKKA trip offered a similar experience, with our crew navigating the various food and entertainment options and planned a bespoke day which left everyone gleaming. Of course, the famous strawberry sundaes were a crowd favourite for us, paired nicely with the EKKA night life entertainment.

Riverfire closed off our high energy month of events in the best way possible. We were lucky enough to head to Felons where a banquet experience awaited us, and the music and good vibes were flowing deep into the night. To no surprise, the fireworks display was breathtaking, and we headed over to the dancefloor not long after to boogie the night away.

NRLW TRAINING NIGHT

The Broncos NRLW team invited us to the Broncos Club to watch them train and to join the fun! We warmed up with some dance exercises, before jumping into a game of touch footy! We even had a few try scorers from the Let’s Go team! The Broncos team were incredible with bringing the vibes to the afternoon, and were happily taking photos with all of us, signing jerseys and posters, and even gave us some Broncos caps which we can wear for the rest of the NRLW season.

After the game, we headed to the Broncos club for some dinner and utilised the free pool tables to close off the night with some friendly games!

NRLW SEASON

In addition to watching the NRLW Broncos train, we headed to Totally Workwear Stadium to watch their training pay off in the high intensity games.

We watched the girls smash the Titans on a beautiful August afternoon. The final score was 44-4, and we were cheering along till the final whistle. This game was also part of a double header, so we watched 2 games of the price of ONE!

The second game we watched was against the Raiders, and believe it or not, we smoked them too! The final score was 28-22, and we walked away feeling confident for the rest of the season. It just shows that the Broncos train with the intensity needed to be the best in the league!

BRONCOS

As we approach the end of the NRL season this year, we were lucky enough to make our way to the diamond section twice in August to watch the mighty Broncos.

The first game of the month was Broncos vs Eels. Fortunately, the Broncos turned up the heat and ran away with the victory for the first time in a while at Suncorp. We could not contain our excitement while we cheered on the boys and were left with enthusiasm that lasted for days.

The second game we were able to watch was Broncos vs Dolphins, which saw a divide within our Let’s Go crew as we had some Dolphins fans in our midst. The game was incredible, with the Dolphins running away with a considerable victory. Was it the heat that got to the Broncos, or the fact that some of their usual supporters put on red jerseys and cheered for the Dolphins?

DOLPHINS

Our usual Dolphins supported gathered at Suncorp Stadium to cheer on boys to keep their energy high and run away with more victories.

They had 2 fantastic wins against the Warriors and the Broncos, and our crew wearing red jerseys couldn’t be happier with the results.

With the Broncos out of the running for the finals, our eggs have been placed in the Dolphins basket so let’s ensure we cheer them on for the finals!!

BRISFEST WORKSHOPS

We maximised the free Brisfest workshops on offer in August and had the best time doing so!

We signed up for the Fashion Collab Workshop which was hosted by our lovely Annika who recently joined the Let’s Go community. These workshops ran over 4-weeks, and provided everyone with the chance to design and create a fashion piece which would be modelled on a runway for the commencement of Brisfest.

We also attended the Bring-a-plate fashion workshop which gave us the chance to make new friends while learning some fantastic dance routines. These workshops also ran for the whole month, and by the end of it we were feeling super confident to enter a dance circle!

Magical Music Moments

As per usual, this month was littered with heaps of fantastic gigs!

We saw the wonderful Louder than Love gig, which took us though our favourite hits of the last few decades. This one really got the groovers to the dancefloor, and kept them there with fantastic song selections, and even more impressive musical skill.

We also witnessed Jimbo’s Drag Circus, which words will not be able to describe how amazing it was. This particularly colourful nights was loud, hilarious and vivacious. The night was topped off when we met Jimbo themselves, and took home signed posters, and timeless memories.

We saw a Fleetwood Mac tribute experience which reminded us how incredible their music is. We hung back at the end and got to meet the stars, get some photos and let them know how incredible the show was for us!
